Installation & Setup Guide

1

Permissions & First Run

Android requires specific permissions to discover and connect to Bluetooth devices without exposing your location data.

  • Bluetooth Connect/Scan: Required to find your PC or Mac. On Android 12+, this does not grant location access.
  • Notifications: Required for the foreground service. This ensures the connection stays alive and the Jiggler runs when you switch apps or lock the screen.
Note: Moux does not collect or transmit any personal data. Permissions are strictly for hardware functionality.
2

Pairing with your Computer

Moux emulates a standard Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID). No drivers are needed on the host computer.

Method A: Initiate from App (Recommended)

  1. Open Moux and navigate to the Dashboard.
  2. Tap the + (Plus) button or "Add New Device".
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC/Mac and it is "Discoverable".
  4. Select your computer from the scanned list.
  5. A pairing code may appear on both screens. Confirm they match.

Method B: Initiate from PC

If Method A fails, try making the phone discoverable (via system settings) and searching for it from your computer.

3

Using the Jiggler

The Mouse Jiggler keeps your computer awake by simulating microscopic mouse movements.

App Only Mode

Runs only while Moux is open on your screen. Stops immediately when you switch apps. Battery efficient.

Background Mode

Runs via a persistent notification service. Keeps working even if you lock your phone.

Troubleshooting

The app connects, but the mouse doesn't move.
This usually happens if the HID Profile didn't initialize correctly during the handshake. 1. Unpair the device from BOTH your phone and your computer. 2. Restart Bluetooth on both devices. 3. Pair again. Ensure you accept the 'Input Device' permission request on the phone if prompted.
Jiggler stops when I lock the phone.
Ensure you are using 'Background Mode' in settings. Additionally, check your Android Battery Settings. You must set Moux's battery usage to 'Unrestricted' or 'No Restrictions', otherwise Android will kill the background service to save power.

Android requires 'Location' services to be ON for Bluetooth scanning to work on older Android versions (11 and below). On Android 12+, ensure the 'Nearby Devices' permission is granted.
